Rules

general rules

- Remain IC. You were accepted due to your ability to portray their character as they are generally presented, and we must insist that you remain "in character" for any post made in the main community. There are no exceptions to this rule. [community profile] cfud certainly embraces the redonk and cracky, but that does not mean we will tolerate rampant OOC-ness.

If you do not like the way your character has evolved while in the game, we do understand the need to "retcon" a character completely, but ask that you speak with the mods beforehand. Generally speaking, we do not approve of character resets unless there is a very good reason. However, if you drop and reapp at a later date and reset the character then, that is a-okay with us!

If there are any issues regarding being IC, we ask that the players in question be contacted first by those with an issue in attempts to resolve the problem at hand for both parties, whether through e-mail. Players are not required to have concrit posts. If there are still issues regarding ICness after having contacted the player, please contact the moderators so we can discuss things further. If there are any concerns regarding your portrayal of a character, you will be talked to and/or eventually removed from the game if the situation warrants it. You have been warned!

- We ask that all players include some form of contact (an e-mail address or something similar) in their journals, either on their profile page or as an easy to find post in their character journal. Please note if you would prefer to be contacted by PMs instead. Additionally, for the sake of record keeping, try to put your character name in your journal somewhere. It makes everyone’s lives easier!

- No god-moding. What’s god-moding? As Biz once put it, “being able to pull the perfect solution for any given problem straight from your butt.” Your character should not, under any circumstances, be able to control the outcome for another character, even if they are a power ancient immortal evil or what have you. It’s punching at someone versus just plain punching them. In other words, please do not involve other players’ characters without their knowledge! Additionally, characters should not have information that they would not have access to ICly. If your character is an all-powerful know-it-all, we still ask that you ask for other players’ consent before you have them be an all-powerful know-it-all at them. Roleplay is all about communal writing and a hobby that involves give and take! We ask that all of our players keep this in mind.

- There is some sex allowed. Some! We ask that players use common sense when dealing with this - as a general rule, we say that sexy times should fail more than not, but we're not policing your success rates. If you want to get it on, that's okay - just take it off the main comm and into your own journal post with a warning in the main body, if possible. If you would rather play out camp turning your character into a small and fluffy animal, that's fine too.

- Respect your fellow players. If you have a problem with another player, please take it outside of the community by e-mailing, IMing, or PMing the player to discuss your problems. If there is still an issue, drop a line to the moderators (cfudmods at gmail.com will reach all of us). While we prefer players to try and sort out their differences amongst themselves first, we are more than happy to lend a hand in order to make everyone's playing experience more
enjoyable.

Officially, if there are interpersonal player issues, we will first ask if the player in question has been contacted about these issues in a respectful manner. Unless there are extenuating circumstances, we will not step in unless the other player has been made aware of the situation. We prefer players to try and sort out their differences amongst themselves first, though we are more than happy to mediate between parties if necessary to make everyone's playing experience more comfortable and enjoyable. We ask that when players approach us with these issues that they provide a summary of events, including steps that have been taken to address it with the other player(s). From there, we will approach the other party to hear their side. If it is absolutely necessary, we reserve the right to request that players send us chat logs or e-mails in order to further gauge the situation; we will not take this step unless we feel we have to in order to be completely fair. We will take everything on a case by case basis, so just because we receive a complaint does not mean we will immediately issue a warning to the other party. With that said, if you find yourself having issues with another player, please e-mail us! If nothing else, we would be happy to give you advice on how to approach it and hopefully help smooth things out for you and make the playing experience more enjoyable.

Unfortunately, any issues outside of the game's communities, character journals, and IRC channels are out of our hands. We cannot feasibly police areas that are not directly linked to our game, such as other players' Plurks or other Dreamwidth communities. If players find themselves being harassed on these services, we recommend using features such as the service's "block" button or Greasemonkey scripts like Leechblock for Firefox or Nanny for Chrome. We expect that all of our players will treat one another with respect and will follow the proper channels if they have a genuine issue with another player.

- We work on a two strike system. If you are issued two strikes, we will be forced to remove you from the game. After a year, you have the option of appealing the ban. Please note that we reserve the right to refuse the repeal of any bans.

pet j o u r n a l s

Sometimes -- due to icon space, comment reasons, whatever -- players wish to create journals in order to better act out animal/monster/pet interactions. This is allowed as long as these journals concede to a few stipulations.

  1. These pet journals cannot post. The exceptions to this rule are [personal profile] cuebattlemusic and [personal profile] fu_chorus, journals used to facilitate "events" and boss battles.
  2. The animals will not be full campers, meaning they cannot be changed or affected by diseases, monsters, shota fruit, etc.
  3. Pet journals should be open journals that can be shared. Again, they are not full characters.
  4. If it’s a cute and simple little pet, then no permission is needed. You can make a journal and rock on! However, if the “pet journal” is for something more complicated than that or you’re not sure, please contact the moderator team to see.

character p o s s e s s i o n s

Trinkets, photos, microphones, porno videos, and other small-scale items that a character may possess in canon can of course be included in their camp experience. However, more large-scale items need approval by the mods before being allowed in camp. This includes personalized/canon-familiar housing and other structures, such as mecha. If you have to pause and think about whether or not something you have in mind falls into one category over the other, play it safe and send the mods an e-mail about it! At this point in time, the mods would prefer to not import special "buildings" and the like.

- Mecha are currently allowed in camp under the rules detailed here. Permission from Tara ([personal profile] gaignun) only is required for this, and a list of mecha stored in the hangar is here; please comment if you have not been added to this list!

regarding activity

- You must tag out (about 30 comments a month either in the community itself or in continuation posts in a character journal), or you will risk having your character idle out. Activity should also be varied, and your threads should probably not be with the same person all the time. We also only allow hiatuses of one month. Please contact the moderators if there are any extenuating circumstances before the end of the first month or before the removal of the character from the character list. If you are on the character lists, then you have not been idled. You are responsible for your own activity.

- There will be an activity check every month. These checks will be open for a week and occur at the beginning of the month. Activity checks will be announced with much fanfare in the OOC comm and are hard to miss, but if you're worried, tracking the 'activity' tag will send a notification to your email when it's posted. You are required to link proof of your activity in these posts.

Be active! We're not asking for a lot of activity, but be warned that you run the risk of being idled if your characters appear to be inactive. Please play your character and understand that you will stand the risk of idling if inactivity is a consistent problem. We ask that all players strive to make 30 comments with their characters every month aside from one “backburner” (a character that is played, but not necessarily to the 30 comment mark; this character cannot be the backburner more than one month in a row). However, we are not super stringent with these requirements; while players may receive a nudge after the check in regards to their activity, we will work with players before idling anyone out as long as they comment to the activity check. Additionally, we will not idle anyone upon request if they have not been inactive! Please do not ask us to do so.

tags

We now allow for tags in our IC community. They are not a requirement and are solely for player convenience; you do not have to tag your posts if you do not want to. We do have a few rules regarding tags:

1) The basic format is "Canon: Character Name". This way, the tags will be tiered in the tag list. Please be sure to check the tag list for your character's canon before making a tag. You can only create tags for your own characters. It is up to you whether to use your character's name or a common alias of theirs!

2) We ask that players only tag for their own characters at this time. Please don't get tag happy!

3) Large scale posts such as mistletoe or truth posts will be given a generic tag (i.e. "!event: mistletoe") to avoid large tag clusters. Please do not tag those posts with character tags! Do not create new event tags. If you have a suggestion, please e-mail it!

If you need a tag removed or tweaked, please e-mail robert.haydn at gmail.com with your tag request and it will be taken care of.

applications

- This is a panfandom roleplay, and as such, pretty much any piece of published fiction is open game! This includes webcomics. Original characters, however, are not allowed, and characters must be from an established canon that was not created by the player.

- There is twelve character per player limit in CFUD. We do have a process for approval if you are apping your fifth (or beyond!) character):

  1. If it is your fifth character, please e-mail the moderators at cfudmods at gmail.com with a list of your current character roster.

  2. If you are applying for your sixth, seventh, eleventh, etc character, please e-mail the moderators with a list of the characters you play and links to threads for each character from the community that show that you have been active with them. These links must be from within the past 30 days. While we prefer these links come from the main community, we will allow for some exceptions. Please provide a comment count with each thread (ie, thread link - 21 comments)!

- The official standard for approval, per character, is 30 comments per month in the community. We will allow for ONE "backburner-type" character. If you do decide to claim a character as a "backburner," it cannot be the last character you apped. You are expected to start playing your new character within a week of acceptance unless there are extraordinary circumstances, at which point please inform the mods so this can be taken into account! If we notice there is a significant delay in activity between rounds with a new character, we will send trained scorpions to lurk under your bed an e-mail warning.

- Activity approval is good for one month. If you ask for permission and then do not apply that week, don't worry about it — you can apply the following week without having to resubmit your request. With that said, the mod team reserves the right to reject activity if there are concerns.

It goes without saying that the mods trust you to KNOW YOUR LIMIT. Before you apply to be that adorable ice-skating sports shounen-ai manga character that doesn't have much room for a lot of future fun, think it over.

voting

- Please do not try to sway voters via e-mail, private message, or instant message; drop anonymous comments in the voting post if the voter is giving out constructive criticism. If we receive any complaints about this, your app will be removed immediately.

- When responding to voting posts and/or beta posts, please keep "in-voice" comments to a minimum until you have a character. A few are fine -- everyone likes to play around! Even very clearly OOC joking around is kosher. However, thread-stretching with in-voice comments -- particularly with other anons -- is Not Cool when you do not even have the character yet. The voter is to judge based on the strength of your application, not your anonymous comments in any post.

- Current players are not allowed to vote on their own applications, and each player is only allowed one vote per app.

- The application window is now open indefinitely. Application batches will go up on a weekly basis, at midnight EST on Fridays. Every player is allowed to apply only once per week at this time. If there are ever any concerns, the moderators can be e-mailed at cfudmods at gmail.com.

- On duplicates: if we receive two (or three) apps for the same character, they will go head to head in a vote with the options of voting one of the apps in or declining all of the above. If an applicant receives 70% or higher straight out, then they will be immediately accepted. If both apps receive a combined 70% or higher, then the app that got more in votes will go up in another batch for a revote on its own.

- If four or more apps are received for the same character, then voters get to see the glory of the QUAD BATTLE or Pentabatch. If six or more apps are received for the same character, the mods will collectively sob on each other.

- Reapps may be submitted whenever and will be processed by Friday evening.

offshoot communities

- The "official" communities are [community profile] cfud (IC, where all the action takes place), [community profile] cfo (OOC comm, for announcements and other fun things), and [community profile] campfuckuvote (for applications). All other CFUD-related communities are not required and have their own moderators. If you have an issue in one of those communities, please contact its maintainers!

- Regarding AU games like [community profile] cfudcrywolf: as moderators, we want to encourage RP at the CFUD comm. CFUW was originally made as AU offshoot comm and we would prefer to keep them that way. Only relationships and prizes are allowed to be carried over.

By relationships, we mean CR that is struck up during the game and this is only allowed if both (or all involved) agree to it. The game is not to be mentioned; players may talk and figure out a camp way to convert the relationship (i.e. so-and-so was messing around in the woods and their new bff helped them! and they had ADVENTURES! and bonded. etc). Prizes may just randomly appear in the cabins or wherever the player pleases. If something is banned in camp, then it is not allowed to be carried over period. Previous carryover is fine and does not need to be retconned, but please keep your AUs to your AUs for the most part.

other helpful things

- Given the nature of camp, certain things are banned for the sake of character development and something for characters to whine about in posts. These are mostly for laughs. Bans can be found on the sidebar in [community profile] cfud.

- If for whatever reason you drop a character and have immediate dropper's remorse, please contact the moderators within 24 hours at cfudmods at gmail.com and we will see what we can do about reinstatement. We understand that circumstances can arise and we want to help as best as we can.

- This is not really a rule but for your convenience, we have handy permissions and stats memes that players can fill out. We request that players do them for their characters to make playing and communication easier!
